South Wolds Sixth Form

Welcome to South Wolds Community School Sixth Form Centre

"There has never been a better time to join South Wolds Community School Sixth Form for your Post 16 study."

A bold statement for anyone to make but I think that this is particularly true for students who are due to join us in September 2008.

There have been so many recent and significant developments within the Sixth Form both academically and socially which will allow the students to pursue their challenging educational goals in a caring, supportive and social setting.

The vast range of courses which are available through the 3 main Pathways: the International Baccalaureate, AS/A Level and the One Year Sixth Vocational Pathway, allow students of all levels of ability to develop their experiences, interests, qualification and achievements to the highest level.

The excellent examination results which our students achieve year on year and the large number of students who continually return to us both indicate a tremendous confidence in what we have to offer and how well it is delivered.

This is also reflected in the excellent progression record that we have with over 95% of our Post 16 Students entering a wide range of university courses at some point beyond school.

The profile of our student cohort has started to change significantly with the introduction of the International Baccalaureate in September 2007.  Not only have a significant number of our own students from Year 11 taken up the challenge of this world renowned qualification but we have great pleasure and excitement in receiving international students to the school.  Students from Germany, America, Czechoslovakia, Japan and China have spent the year with us and have enjoyed the academic and social challenges that have been set before them.  In addition, it has helped to develop a global dimension to the school which is absolutely befitting of its newly acclaimed status as an International School in 2007 and a Language College which was again successfully re-designated in 2007.

The development of the dedicated air conditioned 6th Form Study Area with new facilities which include individual private study carrels and new computers have helped to create a positive learning climate for the students.  Alternatively, the newly introduced 'No. 6' coffee shop located in the refurbished 6th Form Common Room creates a welcome cappuccino break from academic study in relaxed and comfortable surroundings.
