Enrichment Opportunities

Gaining a place at university or on an apprenticeship is increasingly competitive.

Consequently, it is very important that whilst our students study with us they are also given the opportunity to gain both extra-curricular and super-curricular experiences to enhance their applications and their future CV’s. With this in mind our Year 12 students are expected to do at least 1 hour of volunteering per week. This could be in classrooms, supporting students lower down the school with reading or learning, in departments supporting teachers with displays and organising after school clubs or out of school in sports teams or community/scout groups.

To complement the A-Level programme we also offer extra qualifications which are accepted and valued by universities and employers. The Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) is a single piece of work requiring planning, preparation, research and independent study. It is highly recommended and is excellent preparation for University entry.

The Community Sports Leadership Award (CSLA) is a nationally recognised qualification that enables successful learners to lead groups of people in sporting activities. It is a fun and practical qualification with continuous assessment rather than a final exam.

Should there be an interest we can also run qualifications in First Aid and TEFL (teaching English as a Foreign language).
