Year 9 Options Information Evening
Thursday 5th February 2026, 6.00 pm in the School Hall

This will be an opportunity for year 9 students and their parents/carers to hear a short presentation about the options process and to talk to subject teachers.

Any questions may be answered in the FAQs.  Otherwise, please email any subject-specific questions to the subject email addresses given in your options booklet or any more general questions to rsprake@southwolds.uk 
 
We hope you find the process smooth and informative at each stage.  Please do use the subject links within the curriculum handbook and the subject area links below to discover more about each subject. 

Please note: all students will follow the Main Pathway unless they have been notified otherwise.

Year 9 Options Timeline

Thursday 29th January     
Year 9 Assembly: Options Launch

w/c Monday 2nd February     
Key Stage 4 Application Forms will be handed out by tutors and the following will be emailed to students and parents/carers:-

• Options Booklets
• Year 9 Interim Assessments – this assessment will include Grade on Course to achieve at the end of year 11

Thursday 5th February
Year 9 Options Information Evening: 6.00 – 7.30 pm

Friday 27th February
Deadline to return completed Key Stage 4 Application Forms to tutors

By Friday 22nd May
Confirmation of options will be emailed to students and parents/carers

Monday 1st June to Friday 5th June
Opportunity for students to change options, if places are available, by emailing Michele (mshenton@southwolds.uk). 
If the course is full, students may ask to be added to the waiting list.

Monday 29th June
Timetable promotion – start Year 10

Thursday 15th July to Wednesday 22nd July
Final opportunity for students to change options, if places are available, by emailing Michele (mshenton@southwolds.uk). 
 

If the course is full, students may ask to be added to the waiting list but this will end on Wednesday 22nd July, after which it will not be possible to make changes.
